Bressay Lighthouse – Expression of Interest Form

Technical computer issues and medical (pre-surgery) isolation along with disability matters meant attaching the following to the email EXPRESSION OF INTEREST reply was proving very difficult.

Please forgive this lateral-thought approach to solving the computer/email/attachment dilemma, but we are delighted to find a way to get the information you require in time for your 10am deadline on Monday 4th April 2022 relating to Bressay Lighthouse.

Bressay Lighthouse – Expression of Interest Form

Answers To Questions

Please forgive any omissions from ourselves as we express an interest in the Bressay Lighthouse Station. Normally my son would complete this form and we would fine-tune the replies so that they answer all that the enquirer (Shetland Amenity Trust) ask. However, time has not been kind, nor has the logistics of getting this form back to the relevant personnel at the Shetland Amenity Trust. My son is away on duty (firefighter). The most challenging part is that I have had a stroke and am still in recovery. Hopefully, the main points have been covered to your satisfaction.

We purchase each building project for cash via a group of friends and do not require mortgage finance. This usually makes the process smoother and less stressful for all concerned.

Please feel free to revert to either myself or my son at our main office and either I, or my son, or one of our project managers will be happy to respond with supplementary clarifications. Best wishes, Russ McLean.

Experience of Renovating Lighthouse Stations

Noss Head Lighthouse Compound

All Buildings & Tower Renovated

We bought Noss Head Lighthouse Station on 23rd May 2017 and have so far renovated all of the buildings except the tower and the engine house. The tower was completely overhauled by the Northern Lighthouse Board. The NLB., still own the tower and control it remotely from 84 George Street in Edinburgh.

Hopefully, some of the hundreds of BEFORE and AFTER photographs can give an idea of the experience and depth of knowledge built up from 30 years of living in and owning + renovating + maintaining lighthouse stations…
