Originally, our friends wanted to evenly share their lives with family in both countries. So spent 6 months in New Zealand and 6 months in the UK.

Some readers will be very lucky in that they can live in New Zealand for 6 months each year.

Our own wee world does have Nova Scotia, Canada within range of Scotland, UK., but New Zealand is now, sadly, beyond the abilities of our aging crew here at the Unique Property Group. So we were looking at this differential in latitudes…

We had originally bid £18,000 on an old set of houses and military base, with radomes on Shetland at Saxa Vord.

Frustratingly,

 

 

Frustratinglt, we were too tight with the old sporran and some lucky blighter secured this massive site for £19,000 (proof: click here).

 

However, the fact that houses get put up for sale and are generally sold within 3 to 6 months, and we have been banging on about this two-summers-no-winters style of life for 27 years, means itvis a moveable feast.

You can either follow our current plans to buy a modest house in the far north of the UK and a winter counterpart in Southern France, or you can consider jumping in yourself and giving the XXX of extra daylight hours each year a go yourself.
